Dornoch has a real variety of things to do, the obvious one being golf. World famous Royal Dornoch is less than 300 yds from Amalfi, so you can leave your car parked at the house and enjoy all 19 holes. The Struie course is literally on the doorstep - a short iron from the garden would land you on the 16th tee, although we do not recommend that you do this. Within a few miles are the fine courses at Golspie, Brora, Bonar Bridge and Tain, all equally worthy of a mention. For those who prefer their walks without golf clubs in tow there are numerous walks of varying lengths, some easier than others! The beautifully clean award winning beach is less that 400 yds from Amalfi, with long stretches of golden sands with safe bathing. Forest walks, some suitable for mountain biking, are close to Dornoch. These are maintained by Forest Enterprise and so the paths, steps and handrails are kept in good condition. Mountain bikes can be hired locally, and there are many local routes for cyclists of all levels of fitness. Fishing can be arranged, from the trout farm at nearby Dornoch Lochans, to river, loch and sea fishing. Permits where required can be purchased locally. There is a wealth of local wildlife, from seals on the beach to deer, ducks and birds of prey. A nature lover’s paradise!
